Video as Lighting Instrument (VaLI)

VaLI, Video as Lighting Instrument, harnesses the power and versatility of video-projectors to create an unlimited quantity of virtual fixtures from a single-point source of light. Along with features shared with advanced physical fixtures, capabilities such as size, shape, color, movement, and gobo patterns, unique to VaLI instruments are negative cut-out, Color-within-Color (CWC), Shape-within-Shape (SWS), color gradients, asymmetrical focus and on-the-fly gobo creation.

VaLI systems utilize specialized software, under DMX control, to manipulate images generated by the computer. The key to remember is that the image is video-content; still-images, text, moving images, colors, shapes, anything you can create on your computer or playback from your computer can creatively be used use to solve your unique production and presentation challenges.

VirtuaLights 1.0 is a first-of-its-kind, single output VaLI engine equipped with four full-color fixtures, two white fixtures, and two text generators. It is currently in final development and early alpha-testing.
